With 10 years experience, Mictr is well known for his pas de chat, which also happens to be his favorite ballet step! Mictr Meao came to us from the streets after a rear leg amputation, from injuries received in a car accident. Although this unfortunate accident forced him to retire from performing at the age of 6, it also opened the door to further his career in the capacity of Ballet Master. His expertise has been shared with us for 4 years. Getting head scritches, napping, and watching the kids dance are some of his favorite job duties. When not at the studio he enjoys road trips to McCall, backpacking and cheering on the Red Sox!

Amber D Barnes
Owner and Instructor
Our instructors, Miss Amber and Ms. Mikey are here to help inspire your child through dance.
With 37 years of dance experience it is obvious that Miss Amber has a true passion for dance. She began her early dance training in Texas and has been dancing in the Treasure Valley for the past 32 years. She has studied classical ballet, jazz and tap with many of the nations top choreographers. During the summer of 2009, Miss Amber was awarded and completed a Research Fellowship with Jacob's Pillow Dance in Massachusetts. Miss Amber has been teaching ballet, tap and jazz in the valley for over 20 years and has entertained and choreographed for professional sports teams, as well as beauty pageants. She is currently the Children's Rehearsal Director for Eugene Ballet Company, showcasing local talent in The Nutcracker, Alice in Wonderland, Swan Lake, Cinderella and Mowgli. She believes that each and every child should be given the opportunity to enjoy dance in a structured and loving environment. Although Miss Amber does not have children of her own, she does have many "little dancers" around the valley. She attended and studied Sports Management at The College of Idaho. Miss Amber continued her education at Goddard College in Vermont where she focused her studies in Dance and earned a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies.
Mikey has 18 years of professional dance training, primarily in ballet, with supplementation in jazz, lyrical, character, and Polynesian dance. This is her 3rd season with our studio, and we are so blessed to have her! As a child she performed in the Sacramento Ballet’s production of the Nutcracker for 5 consecutive seasons. At age twelve, she joined the Folsom Lake Civic Ballet where she danced in several full-length ballets such as Coppélia, Peter and the Wolf, Cinderella, The Firebird, and many more. During her summers in High School, Mikey attended ballet intensives at BYU and The University of Utah/Ballet West which greatly enhanced her training and inspired her to continue dancing throughout her college years. With a BS in Psychology from BYU, Mikey is passionate about living a positive life, being well rounded, and pursuing the lifestyle that allows one to thrive! Mikey is excited to be a part of The Dance Academy family and hopes to inspire each of her students with her infectious love for the art of ballet! When she is not at the studio, Mikey can be found reading, cooking, exploring the great outdoors, or simply spending quality time with her husband, Scot and young boys, Hayden and Hudson.
